Cursillo History

Cursillo is a Spanish word meaning “Short Course”. It begain in Spain in the Roman Catholic Church in the early 1940′s. The First Roman Catholic Cursillos in the USA were held in 1957 in the Spanish language, and eventually in the English language. Cursillo was taken up by the Episcopal Church in the USA in the mid 1970′s and then by the Anglican Church in Canada. Cursillo was brought by the Canadians to the Anglican Diocese of Canberra/Gouldburn in 1979. It was then brought to the Perth Diocese by the Brisbane Diocese in 1992, and taken to the Bunbury Diocese by the Perth Diocese in 2006.
